Mission Statement

The Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre is dedicated to assisting unemployed and underemployed adults meet their employment goals by providing support and service without judgment.

Quality Service Standards

Timely

We respect that your time is valuable; you will not wait longer than 10 minutes for a pre-scheduled appointment.

Clients eligible for Counselling Services will be booked in to see a Counsellor within 5 business days.

Three-day Job Club Participants will be booked into a workshop within 10 business days.

½ day workshops are guaranteed entry into the next available workshop of the same topic.

Telephone calls will be returned by end of the next business day.

We are committed to providing a high standard of service that is client focused, current, flexible, and changes according to the needs reflected by our clients, community, and labour market.

Our staff will provide professional service that:

Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of the client.
Treats all individuals respectfully and in a non-judgmental manner.
Creates a welcoming and supportive environment.

Your thoughts, concerns, and feedback (both positive and negative) are very important to us. To provide us with your feedback, please:

Speak directly with one of our members of staff.
Contact us via phone, mail, fax, or e-mail as noted on our contact page.
Complete a feedback form.

If you request a response to your feedback, we guarantee an acknowledgement and / or a response within 7 business days. If our acknowledgement / response does not meet with your satisfaction, let us know and our Executive Director will respond within an additional 10 business days.

The privacy of service users, employers, funders and community partners is of the utmost importance to us. In order to protect your right to privacy, we will:

Not collect, use or disclose your personal information other than for the reasons we identify to you
Keep your personal information only as long as required by law or by contract
Maintain your information as up-to-date as possible
Respond to your requests for access to your information
Obtain consent from you before disclosing your information
