Welcome to the Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre

Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre NewsIf you're out of work or underemployed, the Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre can provide the tools and teach you the skills you need in order to stand out from other job seekers. We'll take the time to learn about your needs, strengths and abilities, and help you to find and keep a job suited to your education, skills and work experience.

Virtual Resource Centre

We, the Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre, are proud to offer an exciting new job search tool you won't find on any other employment help Web site: a virtual job search workshop.

We recognize that you can't always make it in to the Help Centre. That's why we've created a workshop you can participate in without ever leaving your home. You can receive help writing three types of résumés, cover letters, as well as learn how to conduct yourself during job interviews. Not only that, you can also build a résumé right on our Web site.

If you can't visit us in person, don't miss our virtual job search workshop.

We offer a variety of services to job-seekers, including:

  • A fully functional Resource Centre with free Internet access and an extensive catalogue of job postings, updated daily
  • One-on-one employment counselling and job placement services
  • Two types of employment workshops - a 3-day Job Club, covering all aspects of the job hunt, and a workshop for new Canadians, which provides assistance with some of the barriers facing new Canadians in finding work
  • Online job postings

We have had 20 successful years of helping people find employment. With two locations in Oshawa and one in Pickering, we serve between 600 and 700 job seekers each month, and nearly 80% of those who make use of our services find employment within four weeks.

Browse through our Web site for more information about our services, and let us know how we can help. We look forward to hearing from you.
