Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre NewsThe Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre receives funding from three major government sources to run specific Job Search Programs:

These three funding sources allow our agency to provide the following services to job-seekers:

One-on-one counselling to develop:

  • An individualized back-to-work action plan
  • Effective job search tools
  • Ongoing contact for support and guidance

Group workshops to develop:

  • Skills and knowledge required to conduct a successful job search in the hidden job market
  • Effective job search tools
  • Successful interviewing techniques
  • A network of peers

Job Search Workshop for newcomers to Canada to learn:

  • How to effectively search for employment in Canada
  • What Canadian employers are looking for
  • How to gain Canadian Work Experience
  • How to develop a résumé that works in Canada

Resource Centre to gain access to:

  • Hundreds of job postings - updated daily
  • Computers with Internet capabilities
  • Professional staff who provide guidance and support
  • Telephone answering service
  • Extended hour service

Our services, thanks to our funders, are free to you. Nearly 80% of our clients find work within 8 weeks of using our services, so call us today. Or, if you're not able to visit us in person, we can offer you job search advice online.
