Job Connect

Job Connect is a provincially-funded program that provides employment and job search assistance to adults 25 years of age or older. The program has three main areas of service.

Information and Resource Service

All job seekers are eligible to use this service. We provide access to our Resource Centre for self-directed job seekers wanting to search and apply for jobs, as well as learn more about careers, training opportunities, and the labour market.

Employment Planning and Preparation Services (EPP)

Adults aged 25 or older can meet one-on-one with an Employment Counsellor to develop an action plan for achieving employment. Counsellors help clients to identify skills, define job objectives, build and polish résumés and cover letters, provide job search advice and guidance, and help clients maintain confidence during the job search.

Job Development Placement Support (JDPS)

Nearly 80% of job openings are unadvertised, but many employers in the Durham Region let us know when they're hiring. The JDPS program works directly with both employers and job seekers; we help employers find the right person for the job, and we help clients find the right job for them based on their skills and abilities. JDPS offers clients the chance to develop their skills and gain work experience through a variety of methods, including: job trials, volunteer placements, job shadowing, subsidized on-the-job training opportunities, and direct employment placements.

Space in this program is limited and based on eligibility. Service users must be referred by an Employment Counsellor before being admitted. Service users must also be aged 25 or older.
